Bird Flu Spreads Rapidly in the Eastern Half of U.S.

Avian influenza, colloquially known as “bird flu”, has led to the  deaths of millions of chickens and turkeys in 22 states. The highly contagious illness is deadly and can spread in different types of birds including geese, ducks, and wild birds through saliva, feces, and mucus. It is still safe to consume eggs and properly cooked poultry, and humans are at very low risk for contracting the disease.
