Ketanji Brown Jackson is officially the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. The 51-year-old justice was confirmed with a vote of 53-47. Only three Republicans voted to appoint her. Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas are the only Black justices to serve before her. Jackson is also only the sixth woman to serve the highest court. The court will look different this summer when Justice Stephen Breyer retires and Jackson takes his place.
