Having Built Millions Of Dollars In Sales, It’s Clear SPERGO’s Trey Brown Knows What It Takes To Generate Wealth

It’s never too early to begin looking ahead to the future, especially not for Trey Brown, who is a young entrepreneur with a very promising one.

As previously reported by AfroTech, Brown continues to level up whether it be through his second retail store for his brand SPERGO or wooing the sharks on ABC’s “Shark Tank.” He is the future and from the looks of it, the kids are indeed alright.

Brown, a true wealth generator, first began his entrepreneurial path at the age of 12. Now, at 15-years-old, he has managed to bring in millions of dollars in sales — even landing an investment deal that could set him on the right path to fulfilling his dream of becoming a millionaire by the time he is age 21.

The teen originally launched SPERGO, a boutique fashion collection for men, women, and children, after receiving a birthday gift. Today, the business has two storefronts, one located in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA, and the second in Washington, D.C. at Pentagon City Mall. Brown previously mentioned that he was inspired to start his business to empower youth to know that they can do great things at any age.

“What inspired me to start a business was when I had $170 for my birthday and I [already] had a little business, but this time I was getting more into fashion,” said Brown in an exclusive interview with AfroTech. “So, this time I was looking into starting a clothing business, and like before, I just always aimed to do something different.”

AfroTech sat down with Trey Brown about what has been the most rewarding part of his entrepreneurial journey, provided advice for other youth who aspire to own their own business, and more.

AfroTech: What’s the most rewarding part of being a young entrepreneur?

The most rewarding aspect of being an entrepreneur at a young age is probably the characteristics and things that I’ve learned. From me being so young, I’ve been able to learn a lot of different things that can help me as I grow older.

I’m really focusing on my music now, too, because it’s something that I’ve wanted to do since I was younger. I stopped doing music once SPERGO came out, but now I’m using my audience and the different relationships that I have to build on my music.

AT: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned thus far?

Prior to my first year in the business, one of my mentors said the most important thing in the world right now is time because you can’t get it back.

I’ve also learned that there’s really no such thing as overnight success. What I mean is that it may look like it when you’re watching other people’s journeys and different things like that, but it’s always a build-up to where someone is. It takes hard work, just like anything, to get where you want to be.

AT: In what ways do you hope your personal journey will inspire or encourage others?

I hope my journey will inspire other young people just to show that there’s no age limit to when you can start.

Start going for your dreams and if you believe that you can do it, then you can. I hope to inspire and show people that hard work and dedication make anything possible. There’s no time limit on when you can start.
