The Rams are a team in disarray after six consecutive losses and a slew of major injuries. Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald will all miss this prime-time matchup with the Raiders, leaving the defending champions a shell of their former selves.
Sean McVay hasn’t announced who will be under center for the Rams, but new addition Baker Mayfield is active just two days after he was claimed off waivers from the Panthers.
Mayfield’s playing time may depend on the health of John Wolford, who is battling a neck injury but could still get the start.
Regardless of who starts for the Rams, it will be an uphill battle against a resurgent Raiders team. Las Vegas is just 5-7 but has won three consecutive games behind an improved offense. Josh Jacobs has been on a tear out of the Raiders’ backfield, while Davante Adams is playing like the elite receiving weapon.
A few close wins don’t erase all of Las Vegas’ issues, but they’re keeping Josh McDaniels’ group alive in the AFC playoff race. A hurting Rams team could give the Raiders an opportunity to finally notch a comfortable win.
The defending champions, meanwhile, would be officially eliminated from playoff contention with a loss.
