USA vs Fiji live score, highlights, updates, and result from FIFA U20 World Cup 2023 in Argentina

The U.S. Under-20 national team looks to carry over its excellent start to the 2023 World Cup as they match up against Group B opponent Fiji on Tuesday.

Jonathan Gomez’s 93rd minute winner stunned Ecuador in their opening match of the tournament, with a 1-0 win that put the U.S. in prime position to reach the knockout stage.

They can confirm a place in the Round of 16 with a win today, taking on Oceania opposition Fiji, who are one of the weaker opponents in the field. Fiji were beaten 4-0 by Slovakia in their opening group stage match, putting them in an early hole.

The Americans will be expected to win, and win comfortably here, as goal differential could be a major factor in where they finish in the group standings. With one team that everyone beats up on, it’s the team that beats up on them most who could finish atop the standings. The United States will want to be ruthless in this match, and take their chances, as many or few as they come.

The Sporting News is following the USA vs Fiji U-20s match live, providing score updates, commentary and highlights as they happen.

120 mins to kick: The winner on Saturday was scored by wide man Jonathan Gomez, who has some experience with the senior national team and will look to build towards a more regular role at that level. He had a fascinating — if not a little awkward — discussion with USMNT veteran DeAndre Yedlin on the new CBS Sports show Golazo, who gave the youngster some advice on advancing his career.

USA vs Fiji lineups, team news
