Shaquille O’Neal has attached himself to a venture that will lead energy development in underserved communities.
According to a press release, he is now a founding partner of Jacmel Infrastructure, the recently launched investment platform of alternative investment firm, Jacmel Partners. The platform will lead development in energy, digital infrastructure, critical transportation, and urban revitalization in underserved communities. The firm aims for projects to boost the local economies of the surrounding areas and will communicate with local governments.
O’Neal brings his expertise as a businessman and serial investor, with a portfolio that includes Five Guys, Papa John’s, Krispy Kreme, gyms, and car washes, Basketball Forever reports. O’Neal is also the second largest shareholder in Authentic Brands Group; an owner of sports, lifestyle, and entertainment intellectual property; and owner of the Big Chicken franchise, which has 350 locations in development, as AFROTECH™ previously reported.
Nick Jean-Baptiste and Jorge Mora join O’Neal as the firm’s co-managing partners.
“I’m excited to work with Jorge, Nick and the Jacmel team to invest within infrastructure that has a distinct and purposeful approach,” O’Neal said in a press release.
“One of my core values is that if you have a positive impact on people’s lives, you will win. I’ve had an opportunity to build a diverse portfolio of business interests over the years, but this marks my official foray into infrastructure, and I know these projects will have a major impact on our communities,” O’Neal continued.
Mora commented:
“We are honored to announce Shaquille as a founding partner. His unparalleled drive, business acumen and commitment to making impactful investments makes him a perfect partner as we pursue a pipeline of unique infrastructure opportunities in the current environment.”
