ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Small Business Saturday is approaching, offering a chance to support locally owned stores, restaurants, and other small businesses.

This day serves as a counter to major retailers that dominate Black Friday and Cyber Monday, often redirecting money away from local communities.

Monroe Avenue will host a full day of events on Saturday, Nov. 29. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Shop Small Monroe” will feature activities including a community cleanup, a holiday bazaar with local artisans, photos with the Grinch, and self-defense demonstrations.

A “Taste of Monroe” food sampling will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Families can also visit the Monroe Avenue Firehouse open house during the day. See the full schedule below:

The events aim to draw attention to the importance of supporting local businesses and keeping money within the community.
