Jamie Foxx and his daughter are a working duo.
Corinne Foxx was 10 years old and attending the Oscars when she recognized her father’s star power, who at the time was being honored for his performance in “Ray,” she mentioned in an interview on the “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” podcast. She continued to champion her father throughout her childhood, including when Foxx was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007, but she didn’t know that she would one day work right alongside her father.
Although Corinne always maintained an interest in the entertainment space, as reflected in her time studying acting at the Howard Fine Acting Studio and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts after earning a degree in public relations from the University of Southern California, according to People. She also modeled, making her debut at a Yeezy show, and acted in roles including “Sweet/Vicious” (2016) and “Live in Front of a Studio Audience” (2019), which earned her a Creative Arts Emmy.
Her career also includes time working in a 9-to-5 role in a New York City-based advertising firm. There, she had an epiphany that it wasn’t the career path she wanted to pursue.
“I was sitting in a cubicle in New York City … and I looked out the window, and I said, I don’t want to do this,” Corinne said in an interview on the “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” podcast. “I really had always wanted to be in the entertainment industry, but I just never allowed myself to really go for it. And so as soon as I did, we did the show and ‘Beat Shazam,’ and then things kind of snowballed from there. But I feel like I had to really choose it for myself. It had to be my choice.”
Foxx also noted that Corinne now leads his production company, Foxxhole Productions, which has a studio arm for scripted and unscripted programming.
She was promoted to head of the company in February.
“First of all, my daughter runs my company … I’m thankful for everything that we do as far as what I’m working on,” Foxx explained.
Corinne noted she had already been on both sides of the camera, starting with writing, which naturally snowballed into producing and eventually led to her current appointment as head of Jaime’s production company.
“When I got this new role as the head of the company, which was in February, the first month I really felt that pressure of I want to take his ideas and put them on the screen,” Corinne noted. “I want to bring them to life. We have people now that their livelihood depends on the success of this. And so I really took it so seriously, and now I feel like I’ve grown into the role.”
What’s more, Corinne has already sold a major show, as shared on Palmer’s podcast. While she couldn’t disclose full details, she did say it was a horror series with the Hayes brothers, who are behind “The Conjuring” movies.
“She called me after it was sold … That is a major thing,” Jaime expressed.
