Before You Go

Download The AfroTech Connect App

The AfroTech Connect app is where you build your personal schedule, so download it before you arrive. Use it to choose your sessions, pick at least three meetups (there are meetups for founders, AI Edge attendees, engineers and more) and review the campus map so you know where the Main Stage, Expo and Executive Stage are before your first morning.

Prepare Your Introduction

You will introduce yourself dozens of times over the week: on the expo floor, in hallways and at receptions. A clear 30-second introduction, covering who you are, what you do and what you are looking for, makes every one of those conversations easier.

Upload Your Résumé

If you are job searching, upload your résumé to Talent Infusion after you register, so participating companies can find you before you even arrive.

How The Week Is Structured

AfroTech officially runs from Monday, Nov. 2, through Friday, Nov. 6, and each part of the week has its own rhythm.

Monday is an arrival day. Students begin with a dedicated orientation and AFROTECH U programming, and official partner events across the city run from the afternoon into the night. Tuesday opens with the Opening Ceremony, which is worth arriving early for. From Tuesday through Friday, the full program unfolds across five venues and more than 10 stages, with 129 sessions already on the 2026 agenda across 15 tracks, including AI, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Future of Work and HealthStack.

Making The Most Of Each Day

Walk the venue before sessions begin. The George R. Brown Convention Center is large, and knowing where you are going saves time all week. On your first morning, find your stages and scout coffee, food and charging spots near the sessions you plan to attend.

Visit the expo floor in the morning. The expo hall fills an entire floor with companies that come to recruit and showcase their work. Conversations are easier before the afternoon crowds arrive, so make it your first stop.

Go to at least one meetup. Sessions are where you learn, but meetups are where the community forms. They are smaller, more personal and organized around shared interests, which makes them one of the easiest places to make a real connection.

Exchange contact information in the moment. After a week of conversations, names and faces start to blur. Connect on LinkedIn or swap numbers while you are still talking, and add a quick note about what you discussed.

Pace yourself. You will not attend every session, and you should not try to. Choose the ones that matter most to your goals, and leave room for the hallway conversations that often turn out to be the most valuable part of the day.

After Hours

At AfroTech, the day does not end when the sessions do. Official partner events run in the evenings throughout the week, from company-hosted networking events to receptions and parties across the city. Some sponsors host their own gatherings, which offer a relaxed setting to meet people who work at companies you are interested in.

To mark the 10th anniversary, Blavity is hosting Blavity In Black, a celebration built around the music and moments of the past decade, from 2016 to 2026, with an all-black, dressed-up dress code. For dinner and nightlife beyond the official events, Travel Noire’s Houston guide covers Black-owned restaurants, speakeasies and attractions near downtown.

After AfroTech

The week ends on Friday, but the most important work happens after. Follow up with every new connection within 48 hours, while the conversation is still fresh, and reference something specific you discussed. And if the week leaves you planning your return, early bird registration for next year opens soon after the conference ends.
