“From Resilience to Renaissance: The Black Imperative” was the theme for its 32nd Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony hosted this week in Philadelphia by the African-American Chamber of Commerce of PA, NJ & DE (AACC).

According to a release, the theme reflects the urgency of this moment – one that demands leadership, collaboration, and collective action to advance Black equity. Together with more than 500 business leaders, elected officials, entrepreneurs, and corporate partners, the AACC encouraged members to celebrate their achievements, seize opportunities, and reimagine and rebuild for the next chapter of growth and opportunity.

“This past year has not been without challenges. Businesses across our region have felt the weight of tariffs, persistent inflation, and the constriction of access to affordable capital,” AACC President & CEO Regina Hairston said in a statement. “We have also witnessed a troubling backlash against , equity, and inclusion, with protections and initiatives that once helped level the playing field now under attack. The theme of this evening, From Resilience to Renaissance, captures this moment perfectly. A renaissance is not simply a return to growth – it is a period of renewal, creativity, and transformation.

“To move from resilience to renaissance, we must act together with clarity and courage. As a Chamber, and as a community, we embrace three commitments: to advocate relentlessly for equity in capital; strengthen the infrastructure of Black-owned businesses; and protect and advance inclusive policies,” added Hairston.

This year’s distinguished honorees included:

  • Vanguard Award Honoree: Congressman Dwight Evans
  • Nonprofit of the Year: Black Nonprofit Chief Executives of Philadelphia (BNCEP)
  • Entrepreneur of the Year: PureFuel

Guests and dignitaries who attended the event included Mayor Cherelle L. Parker; Pleasantville, NJ Mayor Judy Ward; U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. President Rob Busby; Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson; PA state Senator Sharif Street; PA state Representative Morgan Cephas; PA state Representative Darisha Parker; Philadelphia City Council Majority Leader Katherine Gilmore Richardson; and Councilmember Jeffrey “Jay” Young, Jr.

The AACC supports, advocates for, and elevates and professionals across the region.
