Beyoncé Ready To Sing ‘New American Song’ With Kamala Harris
It’s official! Beyoncé is on #TeamKamalaHarris.
In an exciting Texas rally on Friday, October 25, the Grammy-winning powerhouse joined forces with Vice President Kamala Harris, marking her first political campaign appearance since 2016. And Queen Bey wasn’t alone. She brought along her “Destiny’s Child” sister, Kelly Rowland.
Fierce, fashionable, and radiant, they took the stage together following an introduction from Mama Tina Knowles. Seeing the three women together was everything. There’s nothing like witnessing the unapologetic power of Black women.
The crowd cheered, clapped, and gagged at the unforgettable moment. And we don’t blame them.
Kelly Rowland to the Houston crowd: ‘I voted for Kamala Harris two days ago.’
Kelly kicked things off, serving up a look and a message that was pure fire. She rocked a sleek shoulder-length bob and a sharp pinstripe suit, commanding attention.
The “Motivation” singer delivered a speech about women owning their bodies and fighting for the right to choose. Kelly told the crowd about “grabbing back the pen” from “misogynists” and those trying to “rewrite history.”
“Houston, we are grabbing back the pen!” Kelly exclaimed.
She continued with a patriotic call. “When I was a little girl, and I pledged allegiance to the United States of America, that meant something to me. That flag meant something to me,” said Kelly.
She ended her speech by saying the flag symbolized civic action. In that vein, the “Mea Culpa” star confirmed she “voted for Kamala Harris “two days ago.”
Beyoncé slays in black, speaks as a ‘mother’ and proud Texan.
Then it was Beyoncé’s turn. Dressed in a stunning black suit, Bey leaned into her Texas roots, bringing her signature poise and passion to the stage.
Blue Ivy’s mom began by sharing her pride in supporting Kamala Harris.
“We are so happy to be standing here on this stage as proud, country, Texas women, supporting and celebrating the one and only Vice President Kamala Harris,” Beyoncé proclaimed.
Beyoncé went deeper, connecting the urgency of this moment to the shared legacy of Black women and their resilience throughout history.
The Cecred owner spoke as a matriarch in her own right. “Imagine our daughters growing up, seeing what’s possible with no ceilings. No limitations. Imagine our grandmothers. Imagine what they feel right now, those who have lived to see this historic day,” she said.
“Even those who are no longer physically with us, imagine all of their sacrifices. The sacrifices made so we can witness the strength of a woman standing in her power, reimagining what leadership is. For all the men and women in this room and watching around the country, we need you.”
Beyoncé says she’s ready to sing ‘a new American song’ with Kamala Harris, asks others to join in.
The RENAISSANCE leader’s voice carried a message that resonated across generations, honoring the sacrifices that brought them all to this pivotal moment. And then, the ultimate rallying cry: “Are y’all ready to add your voice to a new American song?” she asked, igniting the crowd.
Beyonce’s presence on stage with Harris was long awaited. She was rumored to be performing during the night’s rally, and since the start of the campaign, fans couldn’t help but align the two trailblazing women.
Beyoncé’s track “Freedom” from her album Lemonade has unofficially become a Harris anthem, a battle cry for justice and empowerment. The Texas evening and rally add to the song’s impact, Beyoncé, Kelly, and Tina.
As VP Harris took to the stage just two weeks away from the election, the evening was a powerful reminder of the strength, reach, and influence of Black women.
