Black Ballot: First “Black” President Ep 11


After 12 years of Republican Presidents Bill Clinton was embraced by American who wanted something different, especially black voters. His record on what he did specifically for Black Americans is really based on your each persons opinion of measure. Overall he did have a large (record number) of black cabinet members and he was able to help reduce the AIDS crisis that was now killing black women in record numbers after Reagan’s neglect. But crime was still a major issue in the country and everyone (black and white) was calling for change. The Crime Bill was signed and alleviated a lot of the short term concerns but would prove to hurt black people (especially black men) in the long term. Ben Chavis discusses his role in organizing the Million Man March to bring awareness to the issue.
