Blue Honey, what is it and how to prepare it?- Alchimia Grow Shop
Blue honey is a quick and easy way to store and dose the psilocybin contained in hallucinogenic mushrooms. It is a much easier technique to apply than those we have seen in other articles such as psilocybin extractions and that also, as you will see later, allows your mushrooms to preserve the psilocybin without any type of oxidation or degradation for practically unlimited time.
In this article, we will explain what exactly blue honey is, how it is prepared and stored, and the key considerations for safe dosing. Get ready to discover a world where the delicious sweet flavors of honey meet the psychedelic dimensions of mushrooms, guiding you on a journey that goes beyond the conventional…and also finger-licking good!

What is blue honey?
If you are a regular reader of our Blog, you will have seen that you have a wide range of possibilities when it comes to taking your mushrooms; You can do it when they are fresh or dried, and you can make capsules filled with mushroom powder, psilocybin extractions like Lemon Tek…and of course, you can cook them and eat them along with other foods. Be that as it may, today we want to present you a method that allows you, on the one hand, to store your mushrooms without fear that the psilocybin inside them will degrade, while on the other hand, it provides you with a great way of administration and dosage. And what’s more, it’s a really simple process!
Blue honey is, therefore, honey to which powder or small pieces of magic mushrooms have been added, no more, no less. By submerging the psilocybin-rich mushroom powder in honey, we will have a quick and easy way to administer and dose the amount we want, and we will also be able to enjoy a much more refined gastronomic experience than chewing dried mushrooms, something as unpleasant as chewing bits of mushroom-flavored cork. Without a doubt, you would prefer to eat a teaspoon of blue honey rather than a piece of mushroom, we assure you.
Lemon Tek
Today we present you with a paradigm shift in the way that magic mushrooms are consumed. Thanks to mixing lemon juice with Psilocybin, an easy and quick formula has been found to consume these mushrooms, in addition to generating a different experience from the ones you’ve had so far.
Furthermore, and given the characteristics of honey, which can be preserved for years without spoiling, this method is excellent for preserving the psilocybin in your mushrooms for a long period of time, years if necessary. This represents a great advantage, especially for those who use microdoses of psilocybin and need to preserve the properties of their mushrooms for much longer periods of time than in the case of recreational users, in which much higher doses are needed and do not give time for psilocybin to degrade, at least in significant quantities.
And why is it called blue honey? If you have experience with this type of mushroom, you will know that when psilocybin oxidizes it acquires an intense dark blue color, something that happens, for example, when harvesting and handling them. Thus, depending on the total amount of oxidized psilocybin in the mushroom, it will acquire a more or less blue tone. Normally, the more psilocybin there is in a mushroom, the more blue spots you will see, and a darker, more intense color. Although honey does not exactly turn blue when mixed with mushrooms, it is a good way to refer to honey rich in this psychoactive alkaloid. In the following article, we explain it to you in more detail:
Blueing and magic mushrooms
Blue spots can often be observed in hallucinogenic or psilocybin-rich mushrooms, a phenomenon known as blueing. Today we tell you everything about this process, why it occurs and when, as well as a practical trick to detect possible contaminations in the mycelium that can be confused with blueing.
How is blue honey prepared and stored?
Making this psychoactive honey is much easier than it may seem. Of course, you’re going to need a few magic mushrooms and a jar of honey, whatever you like the most. If you are vegan, you can opt for agave syrup, the result will be the same and the only thing that will change will be the taste of the honey itself. To ensure long-term preservation of blue honey, you will need to dry your mushrooms completely, until their stems crackle; Otherwise, fermentation processes could occur inside the jar that would ruin your honey.
Once your mushrooms are completely dry, it is time to chop them as finely as possible so that most of the psilocybin comes into contact with the honey. You can do it in several ways, although we undoubtedly recommend the quickest and the one that offers the best results: cut your mushrooms into pieces (about 3-4 pieces per mushroom), put them in a container, and freeze them for a few hours. Next, grind the pieces in a coffee grinder and you will see how in a few seconds you obtain a powder similar to flour, although of course with a gray/bluish tone. You already have it!
If you don’t have a coffee grinder, you can chop the mushrooms with a knife or try to grind them in another way, for example using a grinder. Be that as it may, once you have them well crushed, it will be time to mix them with the honey. Let’s see how to do it:
- Fill the jar where you are going to store your blue honey with a little mushroom powder (approximately 1/4 of its capacity)
- Little by little, pour honey over the mushroom powder until it is covered
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 until the jar is completely full (or until you run out of mushroom powder)
- Once full, you just have to close it (ideally use an airtight container) and store it in a dry, dark, and cool place. As time passes, more psilocybin will pass into the honey, so the ideal would be not to consume it for a few weeks, or even leave it macerating for a few months
Advantages of blue honey
As we mentioned before, honey works as an excellent preservative that will preserve the hallucinogenic properties of mushrooms almost indefinitely. Since creating blue honey does not involve cooking processes, there is no risk of damaging the mushrooms, as high temperatures can destroy the psilocybin. Thus, you will be able to preserve your mushrooms with the maximum of their properties for a practically indefinite period of time.
In addition to increasing the shelf life of your mushrooms, dosing psilocybin with this method becomes very easy over time. Once you have calculated the dosage on your honey jar, you will be able to determine how many teaspoons you need to consume to achieve the desired effect. Plus, you’ll have full control over the potency from the start by knowing the ratio of honey to mushrooms, allowing you to make a mixture as strong or mild as you prefer.
Of course, and as always, we recommend starting low and using very small doses at first (for example, a teaspoon of coffee) and see what effects it has on you. By gradually increasing the dose in future doses (if you need to do so) you will see how finding the ideal amount will be much faster and easier than it may seem to you. Another good idea is to write down the amount of mushrooms and honey (for example, 5g of dried mushrooms in 100ml of honey) that you have used to have a reference on the potency of that particular mixture; Once you are determining your ideal dose, you may prefer to add a little more mushroom powder to the jar of blue honey instead of taking more honey to achieve a greater effect…the decision is yours.
And last but not least, blue honey is a delight for the palate…enjoy it!
How to take blue honey
You can combine blue honey with a large number of foods, just as you would with normal honey. Just keep in mind the amount of honey you are going to ingest so as not to overdo it. In other words, if you are one of those who eat 3 or 4 toasts with honey for breakfast, it may be advisable to use blue honey in only one or two of them, everything will depend on the potency of your honey and the effect you are looking for. Once again, we advise you to start by trying very small quantities to check the effect and increase the dose in successive doses to achieve the one that interests you.
Another aspect to keep in mind is that if you consume psilocybin with other foods, normally the effect will be somewhat milder than if you take it on an empty stomach. Although in some cases the difference is small, in others, it can be considerable, so the users may notice a significant difference in the effect if they take blue honey alone or in combination with other foods. Last but not least…remember to label your blue honey properly and keep it out of the reach of children!
And you, how do you like to use blue honey in your diet?
