Brittney Griner To Provide Assistance To People Traveling With Prescribed Medications As Co-Founder Of Zennjet – AfroTech

Atlanta Dream star Brittney Griner has launched a company that is inspired by her time in Russian custody.

In February 2022, Griner was detained at Sheremetyevo International Airport outside of Moscow, USA Today reports. She was preparing to play for the Russian club team UMMC Ekaterinburg, a team she had joined for several seasons during the offseason of the WNBA. It’s not uncommon for players to go overseas, as players can earn up to four times their base salary for the league, according to NBC News.

Griner, who is an Olympian and had played for the Phoenix Mercury at the time, had 0.7 grams of medically prescribed cannabis oil that was found in vape cartridges. She was sentenced to 10 years for possessing it in Russia but was released in a prisoner exchange with the U.S. after pleading guilty and serving 293 days. She admitted she was “never going overseas to play again” in 2023 unless it was for Team USA in the Olympics.

Since then, Griner has addressed the pain points that led her to be behind bars by starting a company. She is now the co-founder of Zennjet, a travel membership company that launched in late 2025 to help travelers who possess prescribed medications, such as cannabis, benzodiazepines, and opioids, The Grio reports.

“I never want anybody to go through what I went through. I’m aware that I’m very blessed and very lucky to have an agency team, my wife, and everybody behind me,” she told USA Today in a recent interview.

Data shared on Zennjet’s website shows that 10% of travelers have had their medication confiscated and that one in nine travelers has had to cancel a trip. The company seeks to lower these stats by providing 24/7 legal and medical assistance for travelers with prescribed medications.

“The rules may seem clear, but local authorities can interpret them in different ways. If you are going to travel with meds, a Zennjet membership gives you priceless peace of mind,” she said in a statement on the company website.

Zennjet members have access to medical evacuation services, approved legal assistance, repatriation, and intelligence support. In addition, lost, stolen, or confiscated prescription medications can be legally recovered by a global crisis team. Members also have access to a centralized database that provides legal guidance and entry requirements for traveling with prescribed medications, according to the company’s website.
