Canadian R&B Sensation Aqyila Releases “Focus”

Aqyila continues her string of wins into the new year. In 2024, she earned a JUNO Award for ‘Traditional R&B / Soul Recording of the Year’ with her song “Hello”; achieved viral success with “Bloom.” She also released “Most Wanted,” which included collaborations with Nike and Tribal Carnival. This led to her presenting at the Legacy Awards; performing in Canada and abroad. Furthermore, she enjoyed a guest appearance on the iconic TV Show “Murdoch Mysteries”; syncs of her music in Amazon original series “Harlem”; and headlined her first sold-out show in her hometown of Toronto. WHEW! You’d think our girl would want some rest; but no, Canadian R&B sensation Aqyila releases “Focus;” the prefect song to add to any of your chill vibes playlists.

Seriously, this rhythm and blues song is very relaxing. The music is smooth as butter, and Aqyila’s vocals are resonating and beautiful. The single is a writing masterpiece by Aqyila and also Sam Hook (Ne-Yo, Miley Cyrus, French Montana, Chris Brown); and produced by Monro (Jhené Aiko, Masego, Tori Kelly). Nevertheless, Aqyila is so happy with this release. She tells us,

I’m so happy to be stepping into 2025 with this song. 2024 was a year of so many firsts and so much growth for me. Getting into the studio and putting my heart into song helped me feel grounded in myself amidst all that change. ‘Focus’ is all about feeling confident and knowing my worth – that’s the energy I’m bringing to 2025.”
