“Get in Touch With Your Body”

A good night’s sleep is essential to your overall health. However, statistics show that Black Americans are more prone to sleep disorders than other ethnicities. This may affect so many people that you get used to the effects of poor sleep like being drowsy all the time, struggling to focus during the day, and relying on stimulants to stay awake. Unfortunately, the problems caused by not sleeping well can go deeper than not feeling rested. Some of the issues that can result from not getting a good night’s sleep include increased episodes of depression, poor memory, and blurred vision, as well as being more prone to chronic illnesses such as heart disease, dementia, and thyroid issues. Though health issues can affect how well you sleep, the first place to start is starting a sleep routine that works for your body.

In this video, Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown gives some great tips for getting the sleep you need every night.
