High School Senior Victoria Mathieu Gets Accepted Into 5 Ivy League Schools



High School senior Victoria Mathieu has many reasons to celebrate!

The Bensalem High School student shared a video on TikTok of her seated beside her family while receiving a status update on her college applications.

She applied to schools like Harvard University, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, Brown University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.

To her surprise, she was admitted into five of them, in which the acceptance rates toggle between 3% and 9%, according to 6abc Philadelphia. Mathieu was waitlisted at Harvard and Dartmouth.

“I did not expect to get into really into any of the schools at all. Once I saw my acceptances and everything, it was just like crazy, insane. I was just thanking God,” she expressed, per the outlet.

When applying to the schools, Mathieu said her applications focused on empowering Black women and opening doors for the next generation.

“Be yourself. There’s only one of you and at the end of the day these colleges want authenticity. They want real people. They don’t want just robots that are all about grades and nothing else,” Mathieu said, 6abc reports.

Mathieu’s acceptance has been met with many praises on TikTok, with a video that is at nearly one million likes and has reached 5.2 million views (at the time of this writing).

“This is the flex of the year for Black women,” one user wrote in the comments of the TikTok video.

As for what school Mathieu will be attending, she has selected Yale University as her first choice. She will be centering her studies around law.”

It’s still crazy to me, but knowing how much work I put in and being able to see the results that I wanted. It’s just — it’s just a blessing, really,” she said, according to 6abc Philadelphia.

Mathieu’s TikTok video also included a message to Black girls who aspire to achieve greatness.

“For all my Black queens who think they aren’t capable of Ivy league schools, let me be the one to tell you WE CAN DO IT!! Don’t let people’s prejudices of Black women dictate how far you reach for success,” she wrote in the caption.
