It’s Going To Be This Thick

Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders is known for his over-than-top personality, legendary football career, and no-nonsense approach to coaching his players. Now, he’s giving out some personal advice to Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter—advice shaped by his own tumultuous romantic past.

Hunter, 21, is set to marry his girlfriend of two years, Leanna Lenee, in May 2025. Now, Coach Prime has issued a warning to Hunter for him to protect his assets. During a resurfaced clip from their time at Jackson State University, Sanders joked with Hunter about preparing a prenuptial agreement, holding up a stack of books and quipping, “It’s going to be about this thick,” according to Essentially Sports.

Sanders himself learned the hard way during his highly publicized divorce from ex-wife Pilar Sanders. There were legal battles, including disputes over the validity of their prenup, child support, and custody. Eventually, Sanders was victorious.

Hunter is a two-way college football sensation and a top contender for the 2024 Heisman Trophy. With an estimated NIL (name, image, likeness) valuation of over $3 million and lucrative sponsorship deals with brands like JLab, United Airlines, and NerdWallet, Hunter’s stock has skyrocketed.

But with fame and fortune come financial risks, as Sanders found out.

His divorce from Pilar was finally finalized in 2013, but it was marked by allegations, counterclaims, and intense scrutiny. Pilar contested their prenup, claiming it was forged and coerced, but a judge ultimately upheld its validity. Deion gained full custody of their children and ultimately avoided a financial catastrophe.

A judge in Collin County, Texas, ruled in 2013 that the prenuptial agreement between Deion and Pilar Sanders was valid. Pilar claimed the agreement was forged and signed under pressure, while Deion argued she willingly signed it over 12 years ago. The prenup granted Pilar $100,000 upon signing and $1 million after the divorce. Pilar also sought $10,500 monthly in child support, which Deion deemed excessive. This decision ensured the prenup’s enforceability, according to AustinDivorceLawyer.com.

Hunter and Lenee, who launched a joint YouTube channel in 2022, have consistently shared their love story online,. Lenee, a graduate of Kennesaw State University, has shown public support for Hunter’s Heisman campaign, even wearing a custom “HE12MAN” jacket to games.

But as they prepare for their Chattanooga, Tennessee, wedding next spring, the question of a prenuptial agreement looms large.

Hunter has yet to publicly respond to Sanders’ advice.
