However, even before her time on reality television, she had a knack for spotting business opportunities. During an interview on the “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” podcast, she joked about living nine lives. It all started when she was in high school and was selling 50-cent chocolate bars from the corner store for $2.
“I just told myself I would never depend on a man for anything cause, unfortunately, my mom did,” she mentioned on the podcast. “My mom was such a good wife and such a good mom, and then when my dad left I saw the struggle and man that struggle. I was like I could not do that… Then I got three jobs at 16, and one of them was to like sell chocolate bars and candies… One day I made $100.”
Realizing entrepreneurship was her calling, she initially pursued a business administration degree but decided that understanding Google and YouTube would be enough to run a business. So, she pivoted to a communications degree in order to learn how to be more effective when speaking to her future employees.
Her entrepreneurial journey began with a lash business that took a hit during the onset of COVID-19. She then shifted to day trading in the foreign exchange market and investing in stocks. Next came an Airbnb venture in Dallas, which ended after new regulations limited rentals to midterm stays. Like all successful entrepreneurs, she embraced the power of the pivot and now runs a business on Amazon.
“I started studying Amazon, and then I did Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon). I now sell products on Amazon, Amazon FBA, and then I went up into the villa,” she detailed.
