Janta Power Secures $5.5M In Seed Round To Launch 3D Solar Tower And Expand Clean Energy Mission

Janta Power, a next-generation energy tech company founded in 2021 by Mohammed Njie and based in Dallas, TX, has closed a $5.5 million seed round, according to a news release shared with AFROTECH™.
Announced Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, the round was led by MaC Venture Capital, with Collab Capital also participating. The funding will accelerate deployment of Janta’s flagship innovation — a 3D solar tower — designed for industrial, commercial, and utility-scale applications, including data centers, EV charging networks, and critical sectors like healthcare and agriculture.
Njie, who grew up in The Gambia, Africa, experienced the challenges of unreliable electricity firsthand. Driven to create change, he studied electrical engineering and developed a reliable, scalable solution to deliver power in resource-limited spaces.
“Energy transforms lives. I saw firsthand the challenges people faced without reliable power, and I wanted to create a solution that could deliver clean, abundant energy everywhere,” Njie said in the news release.
“Our 3D solar towers generate large amounts of power in a compact footprint, delivering power where it’s needed most. This is a new dawn for sustainable energy,” he continued.
Per the press release, each 3D solar tower generates up to three times more power per acre and 50% more daily energy than traditional flat-panel arrays.
Janta Power And The A4I Initiative
Janta Power was also named the Sustainable Aviation winner of the Airports for Innovation (A4I) program, a global network of 10 leading airports, per Tuesday’s news release. It was the sole startup selected in the Sustainable Aviation category and one of only five startups chosen to address four major climate and energy challenges.
Janta is partnering with Munich Airport, Aena, and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to pilot its solar tech in airport operations. It’s vertical orientation allows Janta’s towers to reduce land use, installation time, and maintenance complexity while significantly boosting energy output, the press release notes.
Munich Airport and other A4I hubs will pilot Janta’s 3D solar towers, with the program set to launch this year.
According to the news release, the seed funding will also support team expansion, including key hires for VP of sales, supply chain leader, senior mechanical engineer, and software engineer roles.
“The rapid growth of AI is creating unprecedented strain on the U.S. energy grid, and traditional solar hasn’t lived up to its promise due to inefficiency and space demands,” Marlon Nichols, managing general partner at MaC Venture Capital, stated in the news release.
“Janta is different. Their towers deliver three times the efficiency in a fraction of the footprint, making solar viable where it wasn’t before. This is the kind of breakthrough that doesn’t just meet demand — it has the potential to reshape entire industries,” Nichols continued.
