Kai Cenat Explains Why He’s Keeping Streamer University On Twitch Despite Major Networks Like Netflix Showing Interest

Twitch star Kai Cenat received calls from major networks due to the buzz around Streamer University.
What Is Streamer University?
As AFROTECH™ previously told you, Streamer University was a weekend-long program that provided educational opportunities for both small and larger creators at the University of Akron campus in Ohio. Among the instructors was Agent00, who taught the following classes: Monetization for Dummies and Pocket Watching 101. His contributions earned him the title of Professor of the Year during an award ceremony held on Sunday, May 25.
Creators were also supported with the brand-new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring a 200 MP wide-angle lens, and received a complimentary year of 5G service from T-Mobile. More than 1 million creators applied to be part of the experience, and nearly 150 were admitted to what became a breeding ground for content, garnering millions of views collectively.
What Happened At Streamer University?
Whether you are chronically online or quickly scrolled through social media, you likely stumbled upon clips from Streamer University creators such as Meyiram, India Love, Corey2u, Rayasianboy, Caiuwus, Extra Emily, and Duke Dennis.
So, what happened at Streamer University? While there were chaotic moments that made for great entertainment, there were also heartwarming highlights that emphasized why both big and small creators belonged there. One such moment featured creator Corey2u receiving $2,500 from Agent00, which will support his trip to DreamCon to further his content journey, as shared on X. Additionally, three creators landed their first brand deals, each valued at $5,000.
Will Streamer University Return?
Make no doubt, lives were changes over the weekend. Cenat encouraged creators to put in the work during the event, not purely in case there is another semester, but because of their passion for creating content. He currently owns the intellectual property, so it is possible Streamer University will make a return in the coming years.
Could Streamer University Be Coming To Netflix?
Cenat also shared he intends to keep the concept on Twitch despite receiving calls from major networks. He explained his decision while streaming on the platform, where he makes at least an estimated $400,000 a month with 81,000 subscribers, per Complex.
“A lot of people been talking about how this sh-t should be on Netflix, or Amazon Prime should buy this, Tubi should buy it. Somebody higher, and they do it crazy. We already been getting talks with different people, but I wanna go ahead and say this. When an idea like this is so original, you gotta keep it where it’s at,” Cenat explained on Twitch. “You wanna know why? I want you to learn something, bro. Y’all’s channels and who y’all are as a person. Y’all’s channels, y’all’s pages, this is your idea. This is you guys’ stuff. Treat your platform as if you would treat other platforms. Shout out to all these big platforms that have subscriptions.”
He added, “Y’all have the opportunity to make out platforms as big as other platforms that y’all see. They’re all doing the same thing… I think it’s literally important to realize when something is so original, you better grasp onto it. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
