Louis Carr Appointed President Of BET With Promise To Lead By Principles Of ‘Community, Culture, And Connection’ – AfroTech
Louis Carr is the new president of BET.
According to a press release shared with AFROTECH™, Paramount announced that Carr will step into the role after nearly four decades at the company. He is credited for his efforts in the multicultural advertising landscape and for bridging the gap between global corporations and Black and Brown communities. Under his leadership, BET has secured partnerships with Procter & Gamble, Walmart, Unilever, McDonald’s, Meta, and Toyota, among others. Carr’s impact at BET led to billions in advertising sales and investments in diverse communities.
“Louis’ leadership has been integral to BET’s success for nearly four decades,” said Paramount TV Media Chair George Cheeks, to whom Carr will report in his newly appointed role, according to the release. “His vision for the future will drive innovation, deepen BET’s cultural impact, and position the brand for continued growth.”
Carr will be tasked with carrying forward BET’s foundation of strengthening its ties to the Black community, amplifying Black culture, and making the most of resources throughout the Paramount ecosystem, the news release stated.
Carr succeeds Scott Mills, who served at BET for 23 years.
“In this next phase, my focus will be rooted in three guiding principles—Community, Culture, and Connection. These pillars will help ensure that everything we build, nurture, and amplify remains aligned with the people we serve and the stories that matter most,” Carr said in a post shared on LinkedIn. “I’m looking forward to the work ahead and to stewarding the BET brand with intention, integrity, and vision. I am excited for what’s to come and grateful to be walking into this season surrounded by people who have poured into me, believed in me, and lifted me up along the way.”
