Mielle Organics, Led By Monique Rodriguez, Becomes The First Official Textured Hair Care Partner Of The NFL – AfroTech

Mielle Organics has scored a first-of-its-kind partnership.

The textured-hair care brand has experienced massive success. It is currently stocked by more than 100,000 retailers such as Target, CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, JCPenney, and Walmart, and in 2021, it secured $100 million in a non-dilutive round led by Berkshire Partners, as AFROTECH™ previously reported.

The brand started when its founder, Monique Rodriguez, took a leap of faith when she walked away from a career in nursing to launch the venture with the help of her husband, Melvin. Today, the pair still lead the company as CEO and COO following the company’s acquisition by P&G Beauty in 2023, per AFROTECH™.

What’s more, it’s still making significant moves. According to a press release, Mielle Organics has made history as the first official textured-hair care partner of the NFL.

Tracie Rodburg, the NFL’s senior vice president of global partnerships, said the league is “excited” to work with Mielle and believes it will strengthen its connection to players and fans nationwide.

Rodriguez expressed:

“We’re honored to be the first textured hair care partner of the NFL through our partnership with P&G. For so many of us, football represents family and community. It’s attending cookouts, tailgates, reconnecting with family and friends, and showing up in your favorite team colors. And for millions of fans, that includes twisting, braiding, and caring for your textured hair before kickoff.”

Omar Goff, president of Mielle Organics, commented:

“When textured hair products are in the locker room, players can show up as their full, authentic selves and leave with the same confidence they carry onto the field. This partnership reinforces that textured hair isn’t a niche, it’s central to the culture, the preparation, and the game-day experience. Together, we’re creating possibilities and expanding access with textured hair fans around the world through one of the most powerful ecosystems in sports and media.”

This partnership will lead to greater hair representation, as it will provide “high-quality care and innovation for textured-hair athletes,” helping to address issues such as dryness, breakage, and frizz that can occur under the helmet, notes the press release.

What’s more, this marks yet another major league partnership for Mielle Organics. As AFROTECH™ previously told you, it also made history as the WNBA’s first textured hair care partner back in 2023.

“Mielle was built on the foundation of providing high quality, natural products for textured hair. The WNBA partnership enables Mielle to empower players through exceptional hair care,” Goff said at the time.
