More than 10,000 Black women have joined together to publicly thank former Vice President Kamala Harris in an open letter that cites the historic nature of her election along with the work she’s done throughout her impressive career in both law and public service.
The letter, which was signed in part by members of the Win With Black Women collective of organizers who supported Harris’ presidential candidacy, credits the former vice president’s leadership on key political issues such as reproductive justice and healthcare.

“Vice President Harris’ tenure as the first woman and first Black vice president of the United States represents an unwavering commitment to justice and equality that will not be dismantled,” Jotaka Eaddy, social impact strategist and founder of Win With Black Women, said in a statement sent to NewsOne. “Her leadership serves as inspiration to countless individuals, especially Black women, children, daughters, sisters, mothers, and grandmothers, showing that with determination and vision, barriers can be broken and progress can be achieved. The thousands of women who signed this letter show the world that even as President Trump works to reverse the progress our nation and Black women everywhere have made, we will continue to work together and vow to never give up.”

Exit polling data showed that 92% of all Black women voters cast their ballots for Harris.
Notable signees of the letter include but are not limited to Ohio Rep. Joyce Beatty, Donna L. Brazile, Yvette Nicole Brown, LaTosha Brown, Glynda Carr, Melanie Campbell, Hazel Dukes, former HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge, Star Jones, Brittany Packnett Cunningham, Symone Sanders Townsend and Angela Rye.
The names of the thousands of other “Black women everywhere” who also signed the letter are listed beneath the words of gratitude directed toward Harris.

Dear Vice President Harris,
On behalf of so many Black women across this nation and beyond, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to justice and equity. Your historic role as the first woman, the first Black woman, and the first South Asian woman to serve as Vice President is a profound source of inspiration and pride for us all.
Your tireless work to champion causes such as voting rights, economic justice, healthcare, and equity for marginalized communities shows your dedication to uplifting all of us, especially those who have been overlooked for too long. You represent not only hope but a reminder that progress is possible, even in the face of great challenges.
We see your sacrifices, your strength, and your resilience, and we are encouraged to carry that same spirit into our own lives and communities.
Thank you for showing us what is possible when we rise, persist, and lead with courage.
We are proud to stand with you and support you as you continue to break barriers and make history. Please know that your work does not go unnoticed, and it inspires generations of women and girls to dream bigger and fight harder for the future they deserve.
