What Black People Should Know About Heart Disease Risk
Heart disease is an all-encompassing term that’s used to describe several conditions that affect your heart. The most common one is coronary artery disease, which can increase your odds of having a heart attack. According to the Office of Minority Health, Black Americans are more likely to be diagnosed with heart disease and have a 30 percent higher risk of dying from the complications of the illness. Unfortunately, a lot of Black people aren’t aware of how close they are to having heart disease or worse yet, a heart attack. That’s why it’s so important to educate yourself about it.
