The Trump administration has a habit of doing this thing where they draw all of the attention to issues about race and the “woke” teachings, (which is really a way to get rid of highly qualified people of color), only to replace them with some of the dumbest conspiracy theorists that worship the ground the president walks on.
So just a few weeks after winning his second term in the White House, President Trump was quick to announce that Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, a Fox News contributor, was going to be the next U.S. surgeon general.
“Nesheiwat was a frequent Fox News medical contributor and worked as a physician at the Times Square CityMD urgent care clinic before becoming one of its medical directors,” ABC News reports.
But there was only one problem: Right-wing nutjob Laura Loomer didn’t like her. Apparently Loomer learned that Nesheiwat got her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean instead of the University of Arkansas. And Loomer believed that Nesheiwat was pro-vaccine, which all of the “trust me, bro” social media doctors are against.
So Loomer called on the president to fire Nesheiwat, an actual doctor, and the president listened.
According to ABC News, Loomer is not just in Trump’s inner circle, but he trusts her enough to listen to her advice on whom he should hire and fire.
“She makes recommendations of things and people, and sometimes I listen to those recommendations, like I do with everybody,” Trump said last month. “I listen to everybody, and then I make a decision. But I saw her yesterday. She was at the ceremony, and she is — she’ll always have something to say, usually very constructive.”
So now, Nesheiwat will work at the Department of Health and Human Services in “another capacity,” and Dr. Casey Means, the White House’s second choice for surgeon general, is up to bat.
Means has never practiced medicine, but she’s really good friends with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who once dumped a dead bear in Central Park, so there is that.
In fact, Trump doesn’t even know anything about her, just that she comes highly recommended by Bobby.
“Means, who received undergraduate and medical degrees from Stanford University, has held research positions at the National Institutes of Health, New York University and Oregon Health & Science University,” MSNBC notes.
“She is a proponent of metabolic health, when your body processes food in a way that keeps your blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides and weight within healthy ranges.”

While U.S. surgeons general tend to have extensive experience in medicine and public health, Means was described by the AP as a “wellness influencer” who dropped out of her surgical residency program and has no experience in public health administration. The same report noted that Means has supplemented her income by selling “dietary supplements, creams, teas and other products sponsored on her social media accounts.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that Means’ political profile received a significant boost after she taped interviews with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson and podcaster Joe Rogan. The same article added, “Means’s newsletter offers a mixture of practical health advice (‘Exercise to boost blood flow’) and broader takes (‘When we fight the natural cycles, we exploit’). She has taken some positions, such as on raw milk, at odds with public-health officials.”
As for her approach to vaccines, the New York Times reported, “Dr. Means has echoed some of Mr. Kennedy’s skepticism of vaccines, calling on the new administration to study their ‘cumulative effects’ and to weaken liability protections offered to vaccine makers.”
The only good thing that I can take away from this nomination is that if Means and Kennedy were to throw a party and there was tons of food left over, they could both simply remove their tin foil hats and make to-go plates with ease.
