American Tourist Found Dead On Bahamas Beach After Allegedly Spitting On Restaurant Staff At Atlantis Resort

A family vacation to the Bahamas ended in heartbreak for the McAlmont family of Bowie, Maryland, when 23-year-old Dinari McAlmont was found dead on the shoreline of Paradise Island just hours after arriving at the luxurious Atlantis Resort, Fox 5 DC reported.

Dinari, the son of Guyanese immigrants, had traveled with his parents for a long-awaited trip. On April 4, after dinner with his family, Dinari reportedly left to explore the resort. That would be the last time his parents saw him alive. His body was discovered early the next morning, April 5, on the beach not far from the resort.

The family is now demanding answers—and justice.

“They beat my son down in the sand,” Dinari’s mother, Michelle McAlmont, told Eyewitness News Bahamas. “His face was traumatized. His teeth had a lot of froth. His hair was full of sand. That tells me they beat my son down in that sand.”

Hours before his body was found, Michelle was texting Dinari to find out where he was. Around 1 a.m., police contacted her to say someone had reported her son for allegedly spitting on a restaurant employee at the rsort. What happened after that report remains unclear, Demerara Waves reported.

Police later returned to the hotel with Dinari’s phone, asking questions but offering few answers. “They claimed he spat on someone, but haven’t told us anything else. Up to now, they haven’t shown me where he was found. Somebody had to take him to that beach,” she said.

Michelle later identified her son’s body at a Bahamian mortuary, but said he was nearly unrecognizable. The condition of his body has left the family convinced foul play was involved.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force has released limited information, stating that procedures must be followed before disclosing further details. The case has not yet been classified as a homicide, though an autopsy is underway.

In a statement, Atlantis Resort offered condolences: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our guests… This is an active police investigation, and we are fully cooperating.”

As the McAlmonts meet with the U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas and seek legal counsel, they are fighting for “truth.”

“I need justice for my baby,” a distraught Michelle said. “I will not leave without answers.”
