Dr. Bombay Ice Cream, A Brand Co-Founded By Snoop Dogg, Cordell Broadus, And Now Lil Baby, Opens First Storefront – AfroTech

Celebrity-backed Dr. Bombay Ice Cream continues to reach new heights.
As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the Hip-Hop-style ice cream brand was co-founded in 2023 by Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus (chief marketing officer). Thanks to the brand’s inaugural seven flavors: Strawberry Cream Dream, Baked Blueberry Muffin, Tropical Sherbet Swizzle, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, Iced Out Orange Cream, Syrupy Waffle Sundaze, and S’more’s Vibes, the venture had generated more than $10 million in revenue by December 2024.
Broadus previously said Dr. Bombay Ice Cream is driven by a shared goal of building wealth and a legacy that dates back generations through his great-grandfather and grandfather.
“It starts with my great-grandfather in Mississippi,” Broadus told Blavity in a previous article. “He owned a dairy farm, and we’re not, you know, using those recipes or nothing like that, but just the mentality of being a Black man in the ’50s and ’60s, owning land, owning, you know, things that can bring passive income. That’s how we think.”
Broadus’ grandfather also owned an ice cream shop in Long Beach, CA, according to a news release shared with AFROTECH™. In a full-circle moment, Dr. Bombay Ice Cream now has its very first storefront, located at 1827 Ocean Front Walk, Venice Beach, CA, which also carries flavors such as Long Beach Fruit Cart and Sticky Caramel Apple. This follows after the brand’s foray into retailers nationally, such as Walmart and 7-Eleven.
A grand opening was held on Sunday, April 19.
“While Dr. Bombay is a national brand, our roots are in Southern California. From the beginning, it has always been our goal to open our first storefront in Venice Beach, a place that has inspired so much of the brand and its culture,” Dr. Bombay Ice Cream CEO Sam Rockwell said in the press release.
The brand’s in-house Ice Cream Scientist, Dr. Maya Warren, Ph.D., commented:
“Venice Beach showed up in the best way. Getting to interact with people, watch them fall in love with the flavors, and connect with each other over our signature sherbet and ice cream was everything. Ice cream doesn’t have boundaries, it’s universal. It transcends cultures, languages, and backgrounds, bringing people together no matter who you are or where you’re from.”
Dr. Bombay Ice Cream’s new storefront also coincides with rapper Lil Baby’s entry as a co-founder and investor. Broadus shared that he and Lil Baby connected through a Harvard Business School executive program and that they were aligned in their views of business and culture.
“We both understand the power of creating something that can live beyond a moment,” Broadus expressed in the press release. “Ice cream is one of those rare spaces that’s truly universal, so bringing him into Dr. Bombay felt natural. Being able to bring that vision to life with our first storefront here in Venice Beach makes it even more special.”
Going Global
What’s more, the storefront marks the beginning of a broader expansion. The business is going global thanks to a partnership with French startup studio Le Bon Moment, which empowers creators and artists to build consumer brands, according to information shared with AFROTECH™. Dr. Bombay Ice Cream will now be sold in Carrefour in France and Belgium beginning May 12.
