Jake vs. Joshua

Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix announced Anthony Joshua — the two-time heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist — will face Jake Paul at the Kaseya Center in Miami, FL, on Friday, Dec. 19, a release shared with AFROTECH™ states. There will be three eight-minute rounds fought in 10 oz gloves, BBC reports.

The preliminary card starts at 4:45 p.m. ET/1:45 p.m. with the main card at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT on Netflix. The live matchup can be viewed on Netflix’s Tudum and Most Valuable Promotions’ (MVP) YouTube Channel.

Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of MVP, said regarding the match, “From legendary champions to world-class broadcasters, this group reflects the standard we’ve set for Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day. Together with Netflix, we’re building a fight week and fight night experience that feels truly historic, and this team is central to bringing that vision to life for fans around the world.”

Joshua said his intent in participating in the boxing match won’t be about the money, but instead about the opportunity.

“I saw what this meant,” Joshua said about the boxing match, according to NBC News. “It’s not even my biggest payday; it’s not about money. For me, it was more about the opportunity. I had to showcase my skills to the world.”

Joshua has come a long way from his start as an 18-year-old training at Finchley Amateur Boxing Club in Barnet, North London while working as a bricklayer, according to information on his organization’s website.

In a 2023 interview, he admitted that he had once struggled financially. It was boxing that gave him structure and focus.

“I’ve been broke, my family’s been broke, I know what this s— means,” he said according to The Independent.

The payout from the match-up streamed by Netflix is estimated to be at least $92 million, per Sporting News. Exact figures have not been confirmed, though Paul suggested in a November post on X that the amount could be up to $267 million.

Regardless of the outcome, Joshua is sitting on an fortune of $150 million, Celebrity Net Worth estimates. That number is projected to soar by $50 million if he is victorious in the Dec. 19 match-up, according to a separate article from Sporting News.

His wealth has accumulated throughout his career as a boxer, which is estimated to have generated approximately $275 million in winnings, per Celebrity Net Worth. He has also secured a slew of endorsement deals, including with Jaguar Land Rover, British Airways, Beats Electronics, EA Sports, Lucozade, and Under Armour, notes Sporting News. His partnership with Under Armour has lasted 10 years, and in 2024, the parties signed a long-term renewal agreement, Sportcal notes.

“They have always supported me to strive for more and have been my longest-standing partner since I started out in boxing,” he expressed, according to the outlet.

Joshua also has businesses of his own, such as AJBXNG, his personal brand that carries clothing, accessories, and a massage gun; and 258 MGT, a sports management company that provides career development, sponsorships, contract negotiations, brand development, camp management and image rights services, according to its website.

“I always built businesses outside of boxing, out of fear of going back to square one,” Joshua said in 2023, per The Independent.

Philanthropy

Joshua has also invested in his community through Clean Herts, a grassroots organization he founded in 2021 to support diverse youth and their families in Watford, England, where he was raised. The group provides community programming, creative workshops and local events, per its website.

“Clean Herts came about by me thinking, if I ever make it out of the problems I’m in, I’m going to make sure I keep one foot in the community,” Joshua said in a quote on the organization’s website.
