During a rally in Atlanta on Monday, Donald Trump did what Donald Trump always does when a woman, especially a Black woman, tells the truth about him either to his face or while campaigning for his opponents: he whined about it and called the woman “nasty.” This time, his target was former First Lady Michelle Obama, and, this time, he took things a bit further and sent a not-so-veiled threat her way.
“You know who was nasty to me? Michelle Obama,” Trump said as if he were tattling to his parents about one of his siblings who was a really big meanie-weenie to him.
“I always tried to be so nice and respectful,” he said in what is possibly the grossest mischaracterization of himself since he identified as a 215-pound 35-year-old. “She opened up a little bit of a box.”
“She was nasty,” Trump repeated. “That was a big mistake that she made.”
Again, Trump’s threats weren’t as much veiled as they were vague, which is what one can expect from the tough-talking guy who hid in the White House bunker to escape protesters who were nowhere near him. It’s the kind of threat he leveled at people planning to vote for Kamala Harris, who he suggested would be “hurt” if they were in attendance at his rally.
So, what exactly did Obama say to get Trump’s saggy, hate-filled, easily caved-in chest all puffed out? Well, during a Harris rally in Michigan on Saturday, Obama said this:
“So I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore Donald Trump’s gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn. I hope that you’ll forgive me if I’m a little angry that we are indifferent to his erratic behavior, his obvious mental decline, his history as a convicted felon, a known … a known slumlord, a predator found liable for sexual abuse, all of this, while we pick apart Kamala’s answers from interviews that he doesn’t even have the courage to do, y’all.”
Did she tell a single lie? No. But even if she did, she would barely be matching a sliver of the energy Trump displays whenever he’s behind a microphone or in front of the camera. Seriously, it’s baffling that Trump can even fix himself to call anyone “nasty” as if he knows any other way to communicate issues he has with a political opponent outside of being insulting, belittling, brazenly bigoted and inconceivably childish.
Hell, just last week, during a single speech from his golf resort in Florida, Trump called Harris “lazy as hell,” “slow,” a “low-IQ person,” “the worst,” and a “radical left lunatic.” And that was after other rallies, during which he called Harris “dumb,” “stupid,” “lyin’ Kamala,” and “mentally impaired.” Has Harris ever been a whiny little crybaby about it? Has she ever threatened to beat him up in the schoolyard at 3 p.m.? Is she all over social media rage-tweeting about every unflattering thing Trump says about her? Nope. Harris is an adult who behaves like an adult, processes her emotions like and adult, rationalizes like and adult, and composes herself like an adult who should serve as president.
Trump, on the other hand, is big mad — and not just at Obama. The ex-president is also, once again, angry at Fox News for covering Obama’s speech instead of serving as his personal propaganda hub as well as the life coach he runs crying to whenever another Black woman has hurt his poor wittle feewings.
“Fox News spends far too much time promoting the Democrats, their surrogates, and their agenda,” Trump posted to Truth Social following Obama’s remarks about him. “Today I watched, over and over again, an angry, totally out of control Michelle Obama trying to save the dying campaign of Comrade Kamala Harris. I’m leading in Michigan, by a lot…but Fox refuses to put up those polls.”
First of all, Obama was far from “totally out of control.” All she did was say things about Trump that are observable and verifiable. Trump was simply looking into a mirror “over and over again” and not liking what he saw. (To be fair, none of us like what we see when we look at him either.)
Secondly, as usual, Trump is being delusional about what the polls say. Virtually all Michigan polls have Trump and Harris neck-and-neck in this presidential race. So, no, Harris’ campaign is clearly not “dying” or in need of saving. It’s easily the closest race he has been involved in during his political career.
Maybe that’s why he’s so insecure, especially when Black women are telling it like it is about him.
Sad.
