Savannah James is embracing the learning curve of entrepreneurship.
She has consistently supported her husband, NBA great LeBron, and their household of three children, including LA Lakers player Bronny. Savannah and LeBron met when she was 16. A lot has changed since then.
“I’m a little bit more forward-facing now,” Savannah admitted to The New York Times.
When LeBron was traded to the Philadelphia Sixers for this year’s season, Savannah stayed in Los Angeles partly to take their 12-year-old daughter, Zhuri, to school and focus on her growing empire, which includes a podcast. The New York Times notes that Savannah isn’t running to her husband for business advice, despite him being a billionaire.
“To do something that I know was bootstrapped by me from the ground up, I think is important to me,” she told The New York Times. “Let me figure it out.”
It is unclear whether these sentiments apply to her entire business portfolio.
As AFROTECH™ previously reported, Savannah’s business empire includes Reframe, a brand focused on clinical skin care and backed by two years of research.
Another venture is the podcast “Everybody’s Crazy,” which she co-hosts with her best friend, April McDaniel. It crossed 46.4 subscribers on YouTube as of this writing.
The pair also founded the women’s-only membership club Let It Break with McDaniel. Members will benefit from “a holistic approach to personal growth & transformation,” according to its website. Its core offerings include access to tools, guides, and practitioners, as well as education and community.
The venture operates under the umbrella of Signed, a holding company established in partnership with Jay-Z’s private equity and venture capital firm MarcyPen Capital Partners, Fast Company reports.
“I’ve always been a champion of experts,” Savannah told Fast Company. “There’s always somebody that’s smarter. There’s always somebody who’s more efficient. So if I can place those people around us, that’s what we’re going to do.”
Signed also includes McDaniel’s creative agency Crown+Conquer, the “Everybody’s Crazy” podcast, and Let It Break community.
