Stylist Law Roach Says Zendaya Ensures He Is A Part Of Her Fashion Deals — ‘We Disrupted The Industry’ – AfroTech

Stylist Law Roach and actress Zendaya are the ultimate fashion duo.

Roach, a Chicago South Side native, credits his grandmother with shaping his love of fashion and Rachel Zoe with inspiring his career. While watching an episode of her show, “The Rachel Zoe Project,” that aired in 2008, he had a career epiphany when he saw her meet with Giorgio Armani at a fashion show.

“I want to sit front row at these shows. I want to go to couture,” he said on the “Aspire with Emma Grede” podcast. “She gave me something to aspire to be. So that’s what, when I came to LA, I wanted to mold my career to be. … I credit Rachel all the time because that TV show let me see the possibilities of what this business and this career could do.”

Roach entered the industry in 2009 as a vintage broker, and singer K. Michelle was his first styling client. He has since become one of the industry’s most sought-after stylists, working with clients such as Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Zendaya.

At what he described as his peak, Roach said on the podcast that styling alone generated between $4 million and $5 million in revenue. He has also sat in the front row at numerous fashion shows, including recent presentations by Lanvin, Givenchy, and Christian Louboutin during Paris Fashion Week for spring 2027, according to his YouTube channel.

Roach knows his worth, so he makes it clear he is more than a stylist. He trademarked the term “Image Architect” to reflect that distinction. He also describes himself as a “bankable brand” and says he knows “how to attract money,” according to “Aspire with Emma Grede.”

Roach has said his press tours with Zendaya have shown styling’s role in increasing a project’s visibility and revenue. Those results have helped him advocate for greater compensation, not only for himself but also for the next generation of designers. He has styled Zendaya for the “Spider-Man” and “Dune” franchises, as well as “The Drama” and “The Odyssey,” among other projects.

“The numbers are saying what we do on this press tour is actually filling seats,” he told Emma Grede. “So now I have to fight a little. I have to fight for more because I know that I have numbers to support it. So again it’s me coming in and trying to disrupt another multi-billion-dollar industry to say ‘no you have to pay me for these things now.’”

He later added, “We know that me putting Zendaya in the [Thierry] Mugler dress for ‘Dune 2’ made people who didn’t know anything about that series go see the movie. We know that putting Zendaya in the Fecal Matter (Matières Fécales) dress with the wings, people didn’t know anything about ‘The Odyssey,’ but they knew what Zendaya’s character was and they wanted to go see that. So we know these things.”

Roach confirmed to Grede that working with Zendaya has been his best business decision. He sees her as more than a client, a sister. She keeps him involved in her career decisions and makes sure he’s financially taken care of.

“I’m paid for my involvement. She talks about it all the time like any fashion deal that she does. I’m included in it … We disrupted the industry,” he said on the podcast.

Roach has also said Zendaya turns down deals if he cannot be involved, no matter how large the check.

“For her to turn down things she’s like ‘Oh no if he’s not coming, I’m not doing it.’ She understands that I’m going to protect her in that. Also my creativity goes into those things as well … She also comes from a mindset that the money will come and the money has came,” he explained on the podcast.
