This AI Actress Is Set To Star In Its First Feature Film – AfroTech

AI-generated actress Tilly Norwood will star in her first feature film.

As AFROTECH™ previously reported, Norwood is the brainchild of Eline Van der Velden, who owns the talent studio Xicoia and production company Particle6. Norwood will star as the lead in a feature film called “Misaligned,” which will be developed by Particle6, Deadline reports. The project will be supported by a team of directors, writers, and editors who will work with AI specialists.

According to Deadline, Van der Velden said Particle6’s goal with Norwood “has always been to show the creative industry what is possible with AI at any one point in time.”

“Now, with our first feature film, we will not only be showcasing the very latest tools and their applications, but we’ll also be helping traditional filmmakers who join the crew to upskill and transition to a world where AI will play an increasingly important part. We remain passionate about helping people develop AI skills that will ensure they — and the industry — continue to thrive,” she continued.

Misaligned is described as a “comedy-drama telling a coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos,” per the outlet, and will address fears of AI.

“The film will absolutely be funny, chaotic and self-aware — very Tilly,” Van der Velden said in a statement, according to CBS News.

Not everyone has welcomed Norwood’s arrival in Hollywood. Skepticism has come from SAG-AFTRA, a union representing nearly 160,000 actors, announcers, broadcast journalists, dancers, DJs, news writers, news editors, program hosts, puppeteers, recording artists, singers, stunt performers, and voiceover artists. In a statement shared in September 2025, the organization shared that it believescreativity is, and should remain, human-centered.

“To be clear, “Tilly Norwood” is not an actor, it’s a character generated by a computer program that was trained on the work of countless professional performers — without permission or compensation. It has no life experience to draw from, no emotion and, from what we’ve seen, audiences aren’t interested in watching computer-generated content untethered from the human experience,” the statement noted.
