Instagram Head Adam Mosseri Says ‘People Are Going To Seek Out People’ In Regards To Rise Of AI-Generated Content – AfroTech

While Instagram continues to embrace AI, its CEO, Adam Mosseri, believes that people will still chase the human perspective.
On “Lenny’s Podcast,” Mosseri was asked whether he believes the rise of AI-generated content will be a headwind or a tailwind for the social media company, which has nearly 3 billion monthly active users. For Mosseri, it will be a tailwind, with its creator-user base as its competitive advantage, combined with his belief that people will continue to seek authenticity from real people.
“In a world where there’s an abundance of synthetic content, I actually think people are going to seek out creativity and authenticity and people more, not less,” Mosseri said on the podcast. “I think people are going to really seek out other points of view, because Instagram was never just about the content. It was always about, to a certain degree, the person behind the content, the point of view, the reason they’re sharing it, their perspective. And I think that’s going to become more important.”
However, He also said that this doesn’t mean AI content won’t remain on the platform. He acknowledged there will be both good and bad AI content, with unsafe content eventually fading away.
One of Instagram’s most recent updates was Muse Image, which allowed users to create AI-generated images not only on their own pages but also on other users’ pages. The update was not received well by users, and Meta has since removed the feature, according to TechCrunch.
