Some of the most recognizable names in Hollywood and the tech sector are heavily invested in cryptocurrency, with rappers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and socialites topping a recent list of notable investors published by Coin Insider.

Twitter and Block cofounder Jack Dorsey leads the list of public figures most invested in digital currency based on a score Coin Insider calculated using a figure’s net worth, how much crypto they hold and its share of their net worth.

“Jack Dorsey is the most invested celebrity in crypto,” the study said. “Public records show he has invested $2 billion in Bitcoin, and that’s no surprise as Dorsey has spent years pushing BTC as everyday money. He even built Bitcoin tools directly into Block’s Cash App and Bitkey wallet business.”

Dorsey has $2 billion invested in cryptocurrency – half of his $4 billion net worth, the study noted.

Rounding out the top five celebrity invesors are entrepreneurs Winklevoss twins Tyler and Cameron, rapper Snoop Dogg, SpaceX and Tesla boss Elon Musk and venture capitalist Tim Draper.

Former Dallas Mavericks owner and Shark Tank mogul Mark Cuban, socialite Paris Hilton, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, former NFL player Russell Okung, and Serena Williams, make up the rest of the top 10.

In general, celebrities are more likely to own crypto than most people. Some 68 percent of millionaires have it, according to a 2026 study from investing site Motely Fool.

Meanwhile, 30 percent of all Americans own it, according to Security.org’s 2026 Cryptocurrency Adoption and Sentiment Report.

While the average consumer’s adoption of cryptocurrency lags behind that of their wealthier counterparts, the rate at which Americans adopt it has nearly doubled since a 2021 study from Pew Research Center that found 16 percent of Americans said they invested, used or traded crypto.

As it’s become more mainstream, brokerages have incorporated the digital currency into their retirement investment products.

For example, Charles Schwab, the largest brokerage in the U.S., according to personal finance site Investopedia, offers exchange-traded products and exchange-traded funds that allow clients to invest in cryptocurrency. Fidelity, the third-largest brokerage in the country, offers crypto IRAs.

While its popularity has grown, its adoption rate has yet to match its cultural presence. Part of that may have to do with the digital currency’s complex and risky nature.

Some 60 percent of Americans said they’ve heard about crypto but don’t know much about it, according to a 2026 survey from polling firm Gallup.

Another 55 percent considered it “very risky,” while 32 percent said it was “somewhat risky,” the survey found.
